2009-2010 Reflections Theme is “Beauty Is…”

Attention all Hedgehog students!  It is time to show off your creativity!  Get inspired by the theme “Beauty Is…” and start creating!  The categories for Reflections entries are:  Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.  There is no limit to the number of entries a student may submit, so show off all of your talents!  The deadline for submissions is OCTOBER 30th for Tracks 1, 2, & 4, and OCTOBER 16th for Track 3.

**ATTENTION PARENTS:  PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DEADLINE FOR TRACK 3 HAS CHANGED.  THE CORRECT DUE DATE IS OCTOBER 16th.**

Safe Routes to School Parent Survey

The Holly Springs Police Department has been awarded a grant associated with the Safe Routes to School Program.  Part of the obligation is to have parent surveys completed.  We ask that each family complete only one survey per school your children attend. After you have completed this survey, send it back to the school with your child or give it to the teacher. Your responses will be kept confidential and neither your name nor your child’s name will be associated with any results. Thank you for participating in this survey!

PTA Membership Form

Consider joining the PTA for the 2009-2010 school year.  Membership does not roll from one year to the next.  For only $5 you are supporting your children’s school.  We offer so many other benefits besides that handy-dandy PTA Membership card…

  • Family Fun Day & Sock Hop – Fun was had by all who attended these safe, family-focused events and over $9,000 was raised!
  • Teacher Appreciation – Provided all returning teachers $100 gift cards to Stone’s for classroom supplies and awarded 6- $500 mini-grants! Provided meals & treats throughout the year during early-release days! Sponsored Staff Appreciation week!
  • CitiPass, Spirit Wear, Art-By-Me and Hurricanes fundraisers earned over $19,000!
  • No Frills Fundraising – Raised over $5,100 through Box tops for Education, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Target and Tyson Programs!
  • Book Fairs- $5,000 was raised from our Book Fair, for media center!  Both young & old had an awesome time with WILD MAN DAN!
  • Cultural Arts – Arranged visits from the Russian Dancers, Sounds Crazy (Science & Music Program), A Storyteller who told NC Grandfather Tales, Writer in Residence for the 4th graders.
  • The PTA would like to thank you for all your support $11000.00 was raised and the Shade Structures will be installed in JULY!
  • Provided  graduation t-shirts & cake for 5th graders, and each family with a PTA ,member was provided with a Student Directory
  • Character Education – Is part of our nationally recognized counseling program focused on a different character trait each month to support the development of our children.

10% of the sales for the entire DAY will come back to the school

You do not need a flier. Please encourage your friends and neighbors to dine out at Andy’s on this day.

Dining for Technology is a program offered by the PTA and local restaurants.  Dine out on specific days and Holly Grove will receive a percentage of the sales for our event time.  The funds from these events will go towards purchasing document cameras and digital cameras for Holly Grove Classrooms.  If you have any questions about this program or would like to volunteer to help with it, please contact Laurie Janus lgjanus@earthlink.net
